Leif Holmstrand: Ruin Recalled

Det er spørgsmålene bag Leif Holmstrands Ruin Recalled – et stort flettet, fælles værk, der vokser frem på Udsigten i DOKK1 i løbet af festivalen "Live Art for Børn". 

Vi inviterer alle til at være med: Børn, unge, voksne og ældre inviteres til at medbringe en personlig ting med og sammen med Leif Holmstrand flette den ind i værket. Det kan være noget, der minder dig om en person, en begivenhed eller en bestemt tid i dit liv. Vælg gerne en ting, du er klar til at give videre.

Man dukker bare op på "Udsigten" på DOKK1 med en ting og fletter med på værket hver dag, når Leif Holmstrand er selv til stede.

Om kunstneren: 

Leif Holmstrand er baseret i Malmö. Hen er kunstner, forfatter og musiker med tematiske rødder i queer historieskrivning og ikke-heteronormative subkulturelle udtryksformer. Hens praksis kombinerer traditionelt håndarbejde med horror, burlesque og queer-kultur, ofte med temaer om kroppen, identitet og mental sundhed.

What objects do you keep, even though you no longer use them? What do they say about you? And what happens to our memories when they are shared with others?

These are the questions at the heart of Leif Holmstrand's Ruin Recalled—a large, woven collective artwork that gradually takes shape at The View in DOKK1 throughout the Live Art for Children festival.

Everyone is invited to take part. Children, young people, adults, and older visitors are encouraged to bring a personal object and, together with Leif Holmstrand, weave it into the growing artwork. It might be something that reminds you of a person, an event, or a particular time in your life. Please choose an object that you are happy to part with.

Simply bring your object to The View at DOKK1 and join in the weaving when Leif Holmstrand is present during the festival.

About the artist

Leif Holmstrand is based in Malmö. Holmstrand is an artist, writer, and musician whose work is rooted in queer historiography and non-heteronormative subcultures. Holmstrands practice combines traditional craft techniques with horror, burlesque, and queer culture, often exploring themes of the body, identity, and mental health.
